Weight-loss surgery won’t “cure” sleep apnea

In people who are obese, weight-loss surgery will likely lead to an improvement in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) but it won't eliminate the nighttime breathing disorder. A type of psychotherapy called cognitive-behavior therapy, or CBT, seems to reduce insomnia and fatigue and improve the overall quality of sleep in patients undergoing dialysis treatment, a study shows.
